Frequently Asked Questions

  • You don't need to figure that out before you start. Our therapists are trained in a range of evidence-based approaches — CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, and more — and it's completely normal not to know what any of those mean. In your first few sessions, your therapist will get to know your goals, preferences, and needs, and tailor their approach accordingly. Therapy is a process, not a prescription.

  • Several of our therapists have immediate availability, including after-school hours. Contact us and we'll match you with someone who fits your schedule.

  • You can request an appointment online. We'll match you with the right therapist and get your first session scheduled.

You can also text us at (425) 264-4908 or email info@rainiermentalhealth.com.

  • The therapeutic relationship matters. If it's not the right fit, we'll work with you to find someone on our team who is — no hard feelings, no awkward conversations.

  • Yes. Confidentiality is foundational to the therapeutic relationship. What you share stays private, with a few legal exceptions — such as concerns about imminent safety or abuse. We'll walk through these with you during intake so you always know where things stand.

  • Yes — we accept most major insurance plans including Premera Blue Cross, Regence Blue Shield, Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO, LifeWise, Kaiser Permanente PPO, First Choice Health, Aetna, Cigna, Optum/UHC, and more. Reach out if you have questions about your specific plan.

  • The best first step is to call the member services number on your insurance card and ask about your mental or behavioral health benefits. Coverage varies by plan, and benefits may differ for in-person versus telehealth sessions. We'll always do our best to give you a cost estimate ahead of time. That said, insurance benefits and final adjudication are ultimately the client's responsibility, and the exact amount owed is only fully known once you receive your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company.

  • Please contact us directly for current self-pay rates. We're committed to making care as accessible as possible and happy to discuss options with you.

  • Your first session is about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what's bringing you in, your goals, and your history — at a pace that feels comfortable. There's no pressure to share everything at once. The first session is as much about you getting a feel for your therapist as it is about them getting to know you.

  • All of our therapists offer telehealth sessions for clients located anywhere in Washington State.
